For Luke's 6th Birthday this year, we bought him a 10 gallon fish tank. At the present moment we have 4 tetras (2 different types,) smokey the snail, froggy, an upside down catfish and an albino algae sucking fish. At the girl's preschool the guppies had about 20 babies. They let us take home some so now we have a cage of 8 baby guppies floating around. When they get big enough, they can swim in the tank with the other fish.
We also hatched some butterflies and let them go last night. We received 5 caterpillars in the mail and watched them make their cocoons. About 10 days later we had beautiful "painted lady" butterfly's that we let go yesterday in the back yard. The kids love projects like these, especially Luke and Mommy!
