Backyard Photos!

We have all been enjoying our backyard so much this summer!  It just keeps on getting bigger and better as we add plants and special little places!

Mandatory Park Hopping Day!

A couple weeks ago, I needed to get outta the house.  We were just having a home day and I started to go stir crazy.  We jumped in the car and went to rhododendron park... Somewhere I have always wanted to go with the kids.  Ava and Syd are very go with the flow most times but Little Lukey could sit and watch his Dan TDM you tube videos and play minecraft all day long!  So we went to the park and Luke was bored about 20 minutes later.  So we walked around and then I decided that we go to another park and keep visiting parks we had never seen until Luke stopped complaining.  Hahahaha...

Then we went to Finn Hill Park and went in the many trails there were beautiful and so much fun.  It was seriously painful for Luke the whole time!  The girls and I had fun though!  And I know a part of Luke had fun as well. We had to leave because  Luke and I stepped in some kind of animal poop!  It was a stinky ride home!

Sydney was so brave, leading the way in front!  Look how cute she is in her Christmas fuzzy socks and little white dress!

So proud of my little gymnast!

Ava recently joined the USAG gymnastics team at our local gym.  She did well in try outs and they placed her on the level 2 team.  The girls on her team are anywhere from 6 to 10 years old.  Her friend Pea is doing it with her.

Ava went from having a 1 hour recreational class to 2 three hour classes per week.  I tried to prepare her mentally for it by telling her that it will be quite different than she is used too and exhausting at first.  It may of helped a little but she had a lot of fear after the first week and was thinking about quitting.  I asked her if she still likes gymnastics and she said she definitely did.  I wanted to make sure she liked it enough before I pushed her to not quit! I never like forcing the kids to do stuff... It's horrible dragging them to be somewhere they don't want to be and also spending money on something they enjoy.

Long story short.... We just finished her third week and she loves it! She is really starting to gain some confidence and believe in herself. Ava has always been competitive but does not like compete.  She has always been afraid of not being the best so she backs out games and challenges.  I have always modeled that is ok to lose and that in order to be good at something, you absolutely fail many times before you get to your goal. I don't know where her fear of losing came through but it seems deep rooted! Anyway, especially after tonight's practice... I can already see her gaining mental strength and confidence in herself.  Her stamina has improved and of course she is doing great things in gymnastics!  I am so proud of her . and I can't wait to see where she takes this!

Here she is with Pea before gymnastics today!  We were hanging out at the pool.

Syd's graduation!

Can't believe my little baby is in kindergarten next year!   We met with her teacher a couple weeks ago... She is amazing and I have only heard great things about her!

Syd's 6th Birthday Luau

We celebrated Sydney's 6th Birthday with a Luau.  I really had a good time decorating and Ava was a great helper!  She helped me make the "Sydney" banner among many other things.  Sydney's best friends came... Naomi, Elise, Talia and Rylee.  She did not want a lot of kids there and did not want to be sung "Happy Birthday" to.  She claims she is "shy" all the time but all it is really is just a small amount of time getting to know someone and then she is her usual bubbly self.  This little girl knows what she likes and doesn't likes more than any other little person know!

Happy Birthday my fiesta little baby of the family who does not want to grow up.  She is the only kid I know that would like to get younger with each birthday!  I am being serious!  She does not want to grow up!  It was God's way of telling me that I am done, when I had Syd!  She is a true "Cancer" sign with her emotions and sensitivity.  She is a true empath and can sense and take on any energy in the room.  It truly is astonishing and can be trying most times.  Someday this quality will benefit her when she is mature enough to distinguish the difference between other's feelings and her own.  But for now,  her special gift can be quite overwhelming and misread.

Sydney is passionate, sweet, and can be quite focused at times.  She loves her baby dolls and takes such great care of them!  It is the one toy she goes back to all the time and she gets "lost" in her world playing with them.  Both Steve and i love to secretly watch her bounce them to sleep, feed them, reprimand them, help them when they get boo-boos and snuggle them.   Syd idolizes her big sister and Ava takes such good care of her little sister!  Luke shows his love to Sydney by pressing her buttons and teasing her.  The things he bugs her most about are the qualities that are most like his.   He has been her protector from day one!  Even though his antics may come off as "mean" (as she likes to call it,) I think it is his way of trying to correct the things he wishes he could change himself.  She likes to flap her wings and perseverate just like Luke to name a couple of these quirks.  When Lukey decides to stop meddling, Sydney just eats him up and they have a great time playing!  One day when Luke was home from school recently, Luke looked at me and said "I love this combination of people."  It was just Luke, Syd, and I.  Don't get me wrong, Ava is adored by all, but there was no competition for play that day.  Two is an even number!

Back to Syd... she keeps me on my toes and makes me melt when she wants to snug!  And I love when she is feeling good and centered enough to put all of her "sensory processing" aside and forgets that is ok for her leg to touch mine, and for me to touch her food. Both Steve and I know, we got to take advantage of those moments when we can and we do!  It is so awarding!  That is when we see her true soul and how beautiful and sweet she is when she is not bogged down with all the sensory crap.

Syd is so smart and imaginative!  She is great artist and has loved drawing since she could hold a pencil. When she doesn't let her perfectionism take over, she has created some beautiful pieces of art that encompass the whole page... no white spots what-so-ever!  She loves to dance and "feel" the music... she did not get that from her Mama!  Her imagination can be downright magical sometimes!

Sydney loves her friends like they are family!  She is my only child that sought out friendships and playdates persistently!  Sometimes I have to ask her if she will just play with me!  She has her special best friend in the world since birth, Naomi.  No one will ever come close to ever comparing to Naomi.  She loves all of her other friends but every picture, every craft, every playdate... must be done with Naomi!  Their personalities are so similar that the relationship can be quite intense, especially for such young kiddos!

Happy Birthday my sweet and passionate little girl... the baby of our family!  You are so loved by all of your family and friends!  You are so unique and special and so so strong!  Your light burns so bright.... you are unstoppable as long as you don't stop yourself!

Cardinals weekend!

We all went to our first baseball game in a few years!  On Friday, Steve and I had our sitter come so we could go to the Cardinals vs. Mariner's game.  It was so much fun!  He got great tickets from his business partner and we were only 4 rows behind the Cardinal's dugout!  Unfortunately the cardinals lost their lead in the last inning and lost the game!

On Sunday, we took the kids and sat in the bleachers!  It was a perfect day at 77 degrees and the kids got to eat lots of treats! The cardinals won the game!
